Why does The Battalion only publish once a week now?
This is the first year Student Media had to request money to pay its staff adviser and advertising manager, positions previously paid by advertising revenue and a dwindling reserve fund. Budget cuts eliminated the advertising manager, resulting in The Battalion dropping print editions from three times per week down to once a week. This decision was made because even in a student-run newspaper, professional oversight is necessary. The Friends of the Battalion hope to raise enough to fund the advertising manager, which would help increase advertising revenue.

How much will editors and staff at The Battalion earn?
It is our goal to raise enough money to pay each of The Battalion's 18 editors an average salary of $75 per week and each of the writers, photographers and designers an average salary of $50 per week.
